A Pakistani wedding exemplifies the richness and beauty of the culture. The fun rituals of the Baraat are followed by the moment when the bride's family sends her off with the groom's family. This ceremony is called the Rukhsati.
When the bride walks towards the groom's car, the Quran is held above her head as a sign of the Almighty's blessing on her. Upon moving from her father's house to the groom's house, the newlywed is all set to begin a new life together. A wedding affair comes to a close with the Rukhsati ritual.
Walima Reception Food in Pakistani Wedding
After the wedding, the groom's family organizes a formal event for celebrating their togetherness called a Walima. Inviting friends and family from the bride's and groom's families to the event is the tradition. On this special occasion, the bride and groom make their first public appearance as a couple. From floral decor, live music, big DJs, dance floor, and sumptuous food, the Walima celebration marks the beginning of a new chapter in the life of the newlyweds.
Bride at Walima Reception of Pakistani Wedding
As this is the couple's first public appearance together, they must make a lasting impression. They prefer to keep it elegant and sophisticated for this occasion. The bride wears a gorgeous lehenga and glittering jewellery gifted to her by her in-laws for this event. On the other hand, the groom chooses a Sherwani to look dapper. People attending the Walima ceremony also dress in a classy manner along with the bride and groom. The men wear tuxedos and Western suits on the day of the reception ceremony, and the women wear somber Pakistani ethnic dresses like sharara suits and Anarkali salwar kameez.
